The nurse practioner / physician assistant candidate will demonstrate competency in the assessment and range of treatment appropriate to the pediatric patient in a primary care am! bulatory setting. The CRNP/PA-C will be responsible for the initial assessment of patients presenting for well child care as well as acute conditions, including history and physical and diagnostic work-up, development of the appropriate treatment plan for these patients and patient follow-up. Candidate will participate in the education of clinical staff, students, and medical residents. Prefer candidate with pediatric experience. Candidate must be available to travel between KidsCare Allentown, Bethlehem, and/or Easton offices
Evaluates and implements patient health care needs. Performs routine exams and obtains patient histories. Manages patient treatment program based on assessment of needs. Initiates treatment via prescriptions, diagnostic tests, exams and procedures. Reviews lab results and plans actions according to results. Performs routine health maintenance activities for new and established patients.
Coordinates patient care and make referrals to ! physicians, RNâs, psychologists, nutritionists, etc., as nee! ded. Collaborates and communicates with other nurses, physicians and outside agencies regarding patient care. Coordinates patient care and family counseling with public and mental health agencies as appropriate.
Teaches wellness habits and educates patients on prevention of potential health problems of method of dealing with present problems. Provides information and materials relating to patient health care needs.
Develops educational programs for medical and/or nursing students and the general public, upon request.
Performs administrative duties such as writing admission and discharge orders, working with office staff regarding patient problems, scheduling, records, etc.
Maintains knowledge of current medical practices and skills.
Develops, writes and/or updates Physician Assistant practice protocols as directed by physician.
Acts as lead care provider amongst other support staff, such as nurses, medial assistants, etc! .
Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/Entity as well as the proper release of information.
Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.
Demonstrates/models the Networkâs Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and external).
Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate: Clinical Care/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement, Operational System/Process, and Safety.

Job Qualifications:
Graduate of an ANA accredited nurse practitioner program with a Masters of Science in Nursing, current PA licensure as a registered nurse and certification from the State Board of Nursing as a nurse practitioner or graduation from an AMA accredited physician assistant program; must be certified by the NCCPA and eligible for Pennsylvania license as issued by the State Board of Medical Education and Licensure. BLS and PALS required. Knowledge of growth and development appropriate to the age of the patients being treated (neonate through adolescent). Minimum three years experince working with pediatric patients in a clinical setting preferred.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Sitting for up to 3 hours per day and 3 hours at a time. Standing for up to 12 hours per day, 4 hours at a tim! e. Walking for up to 6 hours per day, 1 hour at a time. Consistently lift, carry and push objects up to 10 pounds. Occasionally lift, carry and push objects up to 75 pounds. Transport patients weighing up to 250 pounds via wheelchair or stretcher. Frequently stoop and bend. Frequently reach above shoulder level. Must be able to perceive attributes of an object through touch. Must be able to hear as it relates to normal conversation, and high and low frequencies. Must be able to see as it relates to general, near, far, color and peripheral vision.
