As the Operations Manager of Freight, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of Service Providers, along with the service-level agreements and leadership of team members within the JFK Freight Operation. You will be a key influencer and driver in evolving workplace culture to drive consistency and accountability through the optimization of resources, Safety, Customer Service, (OTP), on-time performance, and financial controls. In this role, you will work towards delivering the Qantas Group and JFK Station targets, using data, insights, and innovative thinking to continually develop Qantas Freight’s market-leading customer offering and ensure operational excellence.

You’ll have:

  • 3+ years’ experience leading, coaching, and mentoring a team of direct reports. Experience leading contractors would be advantageous.
  • Basic knowledge of US Customs (CBP) Regulations, (TSA), Transportation Security Administration, and other local Regulatory requirements.
  • Prior experience working with Dangerous Goods and other Hazardous Materials will be advantageous.
  • Demonstrate a positive and analytical approach to problem-solving and the capacity to produce results within specified timeframes.
  • Strong understanding of the airline industry and/or the Operational Environments.
  • Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of Operational, Safety, Security, and Emergency Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results within complex business & operational environments with variable stakeholder needs and expectations.
  • Flexible, self-motivated, and with the ability to take initiative.
  • A positive, results-focused disposition and do not shy away from challenges being thrown your way
