Position Description:
Center Valley, PA- The Director of Public Relations and Communications will champion and advance Olympus' Medical Systems Group (MSG) business objectives and Olympus Corporation of the Americas (OCA) Corporate Communications initiatives across North and South America by directing, managing, executing, and measuring strategic public and media relations programs, crisis communications, corporate citizenship initiatives, external communications and internal communications. The incumbent will partner across MSG business ar! eas, MSG Marketing Services counterparts (e.g. MarCom, Events,! Web), OCA Leadership and subject matter experts in other business areas to ensure integrated, unified, relevant, and impactful communications. EOE M/F/V/D

Requirements and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and report on departmental budget and metrics for external and internal communications efforts.
  • Develop annual PR strategy and campaign for Medical Systems Group with business-specific support for launches and key product areas.
  • Direct development, implementation, measurement, and management of the MSG public relations program.
  • Develop and maintain tactical tools for PR creation including press release templates and distribution channel lists.
  • Develop, support, and measure MSG specific citizenship efforts within the specific concentration in men's, women's and pediatric health communications efforts.
  • Develop national media opportunities and stories, monitor, and maintain annual editorial calenda! r of MSG topics to proactively pursue opportunities for publicity.
  • Coordinate the development of key media tools that support customers who wish to promote new products to their patients and community.
  • Establish, foster, and maintain relationships and rapport with key customers (i.e. GI physicians and nurses) for future testimonial and quote, attribution and interview opportunities, as well as societies and non-profit groups relevant to MSG and other business areas.
  • Manage Olympus branded communications vehicles to enhance MSG and Olympus' brand positioning and reputation while driving engaged audiences (e.g. Olympus Connect, OlympusPressPass,etc.).
  • Maintain and enhance Crisis Communications plan and tactics. Coordinate responses as appropriate.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with PR counterparts, relevant professional societies and non-profit related organizations, as well as senior point of contact for customer facilities lo! oking to enhance their media relations following a product purchase.
  • Serve as an official company spokesperson and preparing/training other executives and subject matter experts for speaking opportunities
  • Provide public relations and communications expertise and counsel, as a Corporate Shared Service, in support of all OCA Business Groups, Operating Companies, and Corporate departments
  • Provide media relations, branding, and Investor Relations (IR) support to our parent company, Olympus Corporation as requested
  • Develop strategy and plan for internal communications programs for OCA and Corporate.
  • Direct the development of, monitor, and maintain annual editorial calendar of publications and topics to proactively engage employees and promote business success stories.
  • In partnership with HR, Web Creative Services (WCS) and other stakeholders, increases the relevance and value of the Olympus' intranet site, O/Zone, as an employee communications vehicle including refreshing content guidelines and ! establishing usage metrics.
  • Own OCA internal communications protocols such as Broadcast Email process.
  • Adhere to all Olympus policies, standards, and processes including, but not limited to the Code of Ethics, Code of Healthcare Compliance, and Employee Handbook. Serve as a role model for others relative to positive corporate citizenship.
  • Exhibit all corporate and divisional expectations of people leaders to include, but not be limited to developing employees, managing employee performance and engagement, promoting continuous improvement, managing department business and communications, driving organizational alignment, selecting and retaining talent, and consistently modelling excellence, integrity, and accountability.

Qualifications:
(ONLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL BE CONSI! DERED)

  • A Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism, PR! , or Communications is required. A Master Degree is a plus.
  • Must have 10+ years of business experience with 7+ years in public relations/media relations.
  • Knowledge of Healthcare industry is required.
  • Experience working with external vendors (i.e. agencies, consultants) is necessary.
  • Must have experience supervising employees.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including: collaborative, relationship builder, and motivating others are vital.
  • Must have excellent oral and superior written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail is essential.
  • Must be able to interact directly and effectively with executive and senior management.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities is vital.
  • The ability to quickly embrace change/new direction, thrive in a fast-paced environment is preferred.
  • Must be able to travel up to 30% of the time (domestically & internationally).
