Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Description: Temple University is looking of Laboratory Assistant right now, this position will be situated in Pennsylvania. The Laboratory Assistant for the Shriners Pediatric Research Center is responsible for performing simple and routine, laboratory/research related tasks following established methods and pro! cedures in support of the centers research goals and objectives. Primary responsibilities will include genotyping, tissue harvest, and tissue processing and sectioning; general recombinant DNA experiments including DNA preparation, PCR (polymerase chain reaction), subcloning, and microscopy. In addition, the Laboratory Assistant will be responsible for ordering and maintaining laboratory supplies and equipment, collecting and recording of research data, and assisting with the care of laboratory animals. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:
At least one year of directly related laboratory experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to perform the following: genotyping, tissue harvest, tissue processing and sectioning, DNA preparation, PCR, subcloning, and microscopy.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population! of doctors, students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to! operate all standard laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to operate all standard office equipment and software including MS office.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
Preferred:
  • Bachelors degree in a related field.
