Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, of UPMC, is currently hiring for an occupational therapist to work full-time, on a daylight shift, at our north satellite facility located in the Wexford area, within the Occupational Therapy Department. The occupational therapist will assist patients in the engagement of meaningful and purposeful activities in the areas of ADL, school/work and play/leisure as well as evaluating and providing intervention methods and strategies in collaboration with the patient and family to assist the patient in reaching maximum functional potential.
Responsibilities
- evaluates patient's fine motor performances, activities of daily living, sensory processing, cognitive and perceptual skills and! oral motor skills
- establishes baseline assessment wi! th treatment plan and measureable goals
- develops and implements an appropriate intervention plan as indicated by assessment, plan and goals
- educates patient, family members, or caregivers in appropriate activities for carryover of goals and intervention in the home and community settings
- prepares and plans for discharge during the course of intervention with patient and family and initiates discharge when appropriate
- bachelor's degree in occupational therapy is required
- previous pediatric experience including student fieldwork is preferred
- analytical ability to evaluate patients with various diagnoses and establish an appropriate intervention plan is required
- interpersonal skills to create a positive rapport with patients and families as well as facility staff is required
- written communication skills to provide medical information in a concise and objective manne! r is required
- current license to practice OT in the State of Pennsylvania is required
- Act 33 clearance is required within 30 days of employment
- Act 73 clearance is required within 30 days of employment
