Summary:
Provides routine care and management of the patient with acute and chronic complaints, in collaboration with the supervising physician(s) and through implementation of standardized procedures.
Formal Education Required:
- Graduate of a nationally accredited Physician Assistant program, MPAS preferred, with State of Ohio Physicians Assistant License or Masters Degree in Nursing with completion of Advanced Practice program in area of expertise and National certification as ACNP or CNS.
- Current license to practice as a registered nurse or physicianâs assistant in the state of Ohio.
- If a nurse, Certificate of Authority to practice as a! n Advanced Practice Nurse in the state of Ohio.
- If a PA, completion of PA educational program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission of Education for the Physician Assistant (its predecessor agencies, the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, and the Allied Health Education and Accreditation); or have passed the national certification examination administered by the National Commission of Certification of Physicians Assistants.
- Successful completion of orientation program, supervised by a designated physician/ACNP.
- Prefer one (1) to three (3) years of experience in a clinic setting with both adult and pediatric patients desirable.
- Current license to practice in the state of Ohio.
- Current Certificate of Authority to practice in the state of Ohio within 6 months of hire.
- Current Certificate to Prescribe or eligibility to apply for! prescriptive privileges in the state of Ohio within one year of date of hire.
- Excellent skills in communication, organizing, self-motivation, accuracy, and time management.
- Ability to read and interpret medical documents, which are commonly found in a clinic or physician office environment.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of professionals.
- Demonstrates flexibility to meet the ever changing needs of patients and health care team members.
- BLS certification.
- Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with ! an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
