SUMMARY:
The Financial Analyst position reports to the Controller and is key person in building, maintaining and executing all departmental planning and reporting deliverables. Incumbent must assure that the South University philosophy is considered in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of this position: quality service to students; development, growth, involvement, and recognition of faculty and staff; sound economic principles; and maintenance of an environment which is conducive to innovation, student learning, positive thinking and expansion.

KEY JOB ELEMENTS:
  • Responsible for building, maintaining and delivering the financial output of the Finance department - including weekly and monthly operational reports, financial dashboards, and periodic board reporting.
  • Responsible for building and maintaining detailed financial planning output and supporting documents for forecasts, annual budget and long-range planning.
  • Supports the Controller and University leadership in building the annual detailed budgets including periodic revisions.
  • Analyze financial data and provide forecasting support.
  • Prepare reports and projections based on financial data.
  • Perform quantitative analysis of operational and financial data.
  • Builds and manages financial databases by organizing and analyzing a wide range of data sources.
  • Performs ad hoc analysis for executives as required.
  • Work collaboratively with university accounting and reporting team.
  • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Preferred bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration.
  • 2-5 years of experience in accounting, finance or business analytics with a focus in modeling, planning, forecasting and financial reporting.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Proficient in building and maintaining dashboards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient presentation skills required.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong computer literacy skills and exposure to financial software programs.
  • Advanced Excel and Power Point a must.
