:

Under the direction of the professional staff, the Emergency Department Technician will provide direct patient care and perform selected therapeutic interventions! and diagnostic procedures with consideration for age-specific responsibilities including infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations, while providing a calm, caring, clean and safe environment.

II.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

:

1. Utilizes psychomotor and critical thinking skills to provide safe and

efficient direct patient care with consideration for age-specific

accommodations.

2. Demonstrates competence in technical skills when performing patient care and

selected therapeutic interventions and diagnostic procedures including

Phlebotomy, Electrocardiograms and AccuCheks on specified patients while

adapting as necessary for age-specific accommodations.

3. Effectively communicates with patient care team members, patients, families

and other health care disciplines with consideration for age-specific

accommodations

4. Demonstrates the abil! ity to safely transport patient and specimens according
to departmental standards.

5. Collaborates with patient care team members toward achieving excellence in

patient care.

6. Uses computers and routine maintenance to assure the proper function of

testing equipment, the safety and appropriate care of patients and to

conform with departmental policy.

Job Qualifications:
Education:
1. High School or GED completion

2. Certified Nursing Assistant, Emergency Medical

Technician Certification AND/OR:
satisfactory completion of appropriate continuing

education specific to job requirements, or willing to obtain

certificate within 1 year.

B. Experience: Flexible

C. Other Skills: certified in BLS CPR (per unit requirement excellent

Interpersonal, team building skills, communication skills and problem

solving abilities.

D. Training time required once hir! ed: Dependent upon candidate
