Job Description:
The transplant donor coordinator is a health care professional with special expertise in transplant medicine who endeavors to provide and maximize the quality of care to patients with end-stage organ failure requiring transplantation while coordinating the logistics of an organ transplant. The donor coordinator is responsible for managing the process of deceased donor organ transplants for pediatric kidney, liver, heart and lung ! in collaboration with the Organ Procurement Organization (OPO)! , the Transplant surgeon, and the medical transplant team at CHOP. This person takes first call (DonorNet) for organ offers and accepts or declines offers based on a protocol and input from the patient’s medical team. Where applicable, the coordinator organizes all aspects of the recipient operating room, procedure timing and collaborates with the OPO to oversee organ procurement and transport. This individual serves as an integral member of the transplant team, responsible for communication between multiple medical personnel and problem- solving effectively in emergent/urgent situations intrinsic to the organ procurement process. The person in this position will cover organ call as scheduled during non-business hours. The donor coordinator also has responsibility for data entry and chart audits. Specifically, the donor coordinator will be responsible for entry of United Network for Organ Sharing required form, by the specified due date, via utilization of the electronic ! medical record. In addition, the donor coordinator will be assigned monthly chart audits utilizing the electronic medical record. Specifically, this will include reviewing patient charts to ensure appropriate documentation is present and compiling data related to pediatric organ transplantation.
1) Cover organ call during non-business and assigned hours.
2) Coordinate organ transplants, including offer management, logistics coordination, OR and physician communication, host OPO coordination, and patient/family communication.
3) Complete data entry of UNet TIEDI forms that are due within the prescribed due date.
4) Conduct monthly chart audits and provide written reports as required per procedure.
5) Track offer data and participate in after-action reviews as necessary.
This is a work-from-home position and therefore requires the ideal candidate to possess a high level of autonomy.
The rotating shifts will be Monday- Friday overnight (4 pm through! 8 am - rotating), including weekend days and overnight shifts (4 pm Fr! iday through 8 am Monday -rotating).
The position is scheduled for 64 hours a week and gets paid for 40 hours a week being that some of the time is on call time and not actual work time.
