PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Oversees all aspects of the daily operations of the Multi-Disciplinary Evaluation (MDE)/Individual Educational Plan (! IEP) department including hiring, supervision of staff, new hire training, ongoing professional development activities, the development and implementation of policies and procedures, assignments, vacancy coverage and various required data reports.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in education or related field required; Master’s degree and special education certification or licensed in any of related clinical service areas (e.g., PT, OT, SLP, etc) preferred

3 years supervisory experience in preschool early intervention, including experience completing performance appraisals; implementing established disciplinary policies and procedures

Interviewing, selecting and hiring staff; and other supervisory skills

Demonstrated ability to assess skills, strengths and needs of staff and to develop appropriate professional development activities and training

Demonstrated ability to develop and implement de! partmental policies, and where applicable, corporate policies ! and procedures relative to work flow and daily requirements of the department and to employee expectations as well as ability to implement corporate wide policies Ability to communicate effectively and concisely both verbally and in writing

Ability to remain calm and to demonstrate appropriate decision making in a fast paced environment

Must be highly organized and able to think creatively and demonstrate good problem solving skills

Ability to effectively communicate program wide initiatives and changes positively to department staff

Ability to develop training materials and protocols for new staff

Knowledge and application of Chapter 14 regulations and requirements

Knowledge of appropriate assessment tools and practices for children ages three to five

Knowledge of appropriate IEP development and service delivery practices for children ages three to five

Demonstrated intermediate skill level in Microsof! t Office applications, including MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Compassion for and desire to work with adults.

Maintains inclusive evaluation records needed for early intervention (EI) compliance monitoring

Reviews and finalizes all ineligible evaluation reports (ER’s) in PELICAN, and reviews and monitors IEP’s to ensure compliance with regulations

Monitors ER Spanish translations by Elwyn Spanish Intake Service Coordinator.

Develops procedures and monitors completion of specialized evaluation activities and reports

Oversees ongoing changes to the team’s daily schedule related to family arrivals

Filters and provides ongoing communication with schedulers regarding priority evaluations and special situations

Communicates with families and internal and external professional staff

Facilitates observation of the MDE evaluations and IEP mtgs for new Elwyn hires! , interns and pediatricians

Manages and participates in traini! ng of new and current staff

Reviews the electronic summary sheets to service coordination by MDE-IEP teams for accuracy

Conducts and participates in program-wide scheduled meetings

Develops, revises and implements policies regarding MDE-IEP department consistent with applicable regulations

Collaborates with the coordinator of the Parent Partnership program to develop protocols to support families

Maintains the daily operation of the department including scheduling, compliance with department policies, monitoring of staff, billing, building maintenance, supply inventory

Supervises all MDE-IEP staff; Reviews and conducts all interviews for MDE-IEP team vacancies.

Coordinates / facilitates New Hire Training for all new staff
