Po! sition Overview
The Phlebotomist works under the gene! ral supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor, Medical Technologist and Lead Phlebotomist (if applicable), the Phlebotomist assumes the responsibility for performing phlebotomy and specimen processing of blood, urine and other body fluids in a timely and accurate manner according to established hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsibilities include responding appropriately to telephone calls and accurate documentation.
Key Position Qualifications
Flexible schedule required
Minimum 2 years phlebotomy experience required
Previous experience with laboratory or hospital computer systems required
Formal phlebotomy or medical assistant certificate preferred
Phlebotomy certification preferred
Experience in acute hospital setting preferred
Experience with difficult (pediatric, cancer or HIV patients) phlebotomy preferred
Experience with Sunquest Lab system preferred
