Referral Specialist - Remote position but must live locally
- Responsible for collecting and collating referrals from multiple sources in an IT database.
- Ensure complete and accurate patient registration, including but not limited to demographics, insurance information, and referral source.
- Prioritize referrals by urgency and ensure that all referrals are addressed in a timely manner.
- Confirm using Real-Time Eligibility that patient’s insurance is valid and active. Obtain referral, if required.
- Communicate status of patient appointments to referring provider.
- Return encounter notes to patients’ primary care providers, regardless of referral source.
- Communicate with patient and clinical staff to resolve any discrepancies.
- Point of contact for patients and health care providers for any questions or rising concerns. Assist in problem solving potential issues related to referral or initial appointment.
- Follow up on missing or inaccurate information.
- Schedule patient appointments for products or services, according to scheduling protocols.
- Receive and/or relay messages to patient, clinical staff, or provider.
- Bring to the attention of the Department Supervisor any issues that are unable to be resolved.
- Other duties and/or tasks that may be assigned by the Department Supervisor.

- Candidate must be able to sit for long periods of time
- Ability to provide quality communication skills with patients, staff, and physicians
- Ability to flourish in high demand possible stressful fast paced environment
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Experience with EHR systems
- Must have home internet and knowledge of Microsoft office
- Remote position requires quiet workplace environment
