This role is responsible for operator, receptionist and referral d! uties to support patient, visitor and physician satisfaction. This role may have direct or indirect contact with various patient populations including pediatrics, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
Essential Duties:
Schedules appointments, answers telephones, responds to questions, provides non-medical information and takes messages for physicians.
Greets visitors and patients; registers patients for appointments - collects demographic information and copies insurance cards.
Accepts cash payment (copays, payment on accounts, etc.) and maintains accounting documents to accurately reflect cash transactions.
Facilitates general flow of office activities.
Performs basic clerical duties including, but not limited to, filing, faxing and light typing.
Observes and monitors patient vital signs and records brief patient history; administers medication as directed by physician.
Schedules and obtains pre-certifica! tions for outpatient testing and hospital admissions; schedule! s specialist appointments or sends to Medical Receptionist as needed.
Returns patient calls with physicians instructions; documents all contact with patients in the medical record.
Maintains clean work station and stocks examinations rooms appropriately.
Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or GED Required
Medical Assistant Diploma/Certification Required
Experience:
One to two years experience in a health related or human service organization preferred
License/Certification:
Medical Assistant Diploma/Certification Required
