Medical Biller/Collector [United States]

Specific Responsibilities:

Must be able to file claims electronically & on paper.

Should be detail oriented, organized and able to collect and report data.

Generate reports in practice management system and Excel.

Review and follow up on daily mail received from carriers on claims which are denied or need additional information

Review and follow up on patient correspondence / inquiries regarding account balances, insurance

Review, reconcile and follow up on claims which are incorrectly paid

Answer patient / insurance telephone inquiries

Update patient demographic and insurance information as necessary

Prepare insurance letters of appeals as necessary, attaching medical documentation, referrals, prior authorizations, etc.

Document notes in patient’s accounts

Able to communicate effectively via phone with carriers, patients, physician staff and management

Demonstrates excellent Customer Service skills at all times

Comply with office policy and procedure and follows directives

Negotiate payment arrangements with patients & insurance carriers

Out of network experience a plus.

Assist with credentialing as needed.

Data entry and data analysis

Being proactive in learning the latest rules and regulations for medical billing to be in compliance and to maximize reimbursement.

Other administrative functions as needed for DR Billing Services and New Jersey Spine Specialists.

Job Requirements

1-2 years’ experience in medical billing and collecting.

Computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Office products. Working knowledge of practice management software and revenue cycle components.

Understanding of relevant laws and best practices of the Medical Field.

Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.

Comfortable with clinical and financial data.

Confidentiality and trustworthiness.

Maintain physician and patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines.

Adhere to company policy and procedures manual.

Job Type: Full-time.

This is a work from home position with in person meetings once or twice a month or as needed.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 This is a salaried position.
